大阪にある薬品メーカー濤和化学が、空気中に含まれる水分を集め飲料水を作る装置の開発に成功しました。

空気中の水分を吸収するため、除湿剤などとして使われる塩化カルシウムを使います。金属製の皿の中で、塩化カルシウムに風を当てながらかき混ぜると、水分を吸って水溶液となるため、それを加熱、蒸留して水を取り出せるという仕組みなんだそうです。

なんと砂漠の様な環境でも使用可能らしい。そりゃ凄い。
